Option 1: Paper Check Guarantee
Paper check guarantee is the traditional form of check guarantee, where the merchant slides a check through the reader; enters the driver's license #, approval code, and other pertinent information on the back of the check; and deposits it in their bank account. If the check bounces, a claim is processed and the amount of the bounced check is guaranteed. Several premiums are offered with this program including “stop-payment” protection.

Option 2: Electronic Check Conversion
The Electronic Check Conversion program offered through United Bank Card is the first complete and automated check conversion solution in the industry. Just like Paper Guarantee, the ECC Program protects the merchant from bounced checks. However, with this program the merchant slides the check through a check imager and the value is automatically deposited into the merchant's checking account. No trips to the bank! If the check later bounces, United Bank Card guarantees the value of the check just like traditional paper guarantee.

Note: The free check reader promotion does not apply to ECC. Merchants who apply for the Electronic Check Conversion program must purchase or own a check imager.
